Community Impact of School Closure: Implications for Access to Socially Valued Resources and Services in an Urban Community

This study addresses four research questions: (a) What is the experience of community members when schools in the community are considered for consolidation or closure? (b) How might community resources, plans for education beyond high school, and the subjective well-being of community members be affected by the consolidation or closure of XX High School? (c) What are the protective factors from home, community, and school that help community members maintain resilience and subjective well-being in unstable educational environments? (d) What role does the school play, if any, in brokering access to socially valued community resources and services?
